Opening your pool isn’t just “turn it on and hope.” Fat Cat handles the spring startup the right way, so you avoid burned out pumps, air locks, cloudy water, and a frustrating first month of the season.

What a Pool Opening Includes

A proper opening is a mix of physical setup + equipment startup + chemistry stabilization. Typical opening service includes:

  • Remove/fold/store cover (or assist/coordinate if you prefer)

  • Remove winter plugs / reinstall return fittings & baskets

  • Reinstall ladders/handrails (if applicable)

  • Prime & start the pump, check circulation/flow, and confirm basic operation

  • Water test + initial chemical balancing to start clearing and stabilizing

  • Light cleanup (skim/brush/vac as conditions allow)

  • Filter/backwash guidance or service depending on your setup (sand/DE/cartridge)

We’ll also tell you what’s next (ex: “run pump X hours for Y days,” “expect cloudiness for 24–48 hours,” “you need a green-to-clean,” etc.).

If Your Pool Is Green…

No stress — that’s common. We’ll either:

  • open it and stabilize what we can, then

  • move you straight into Green-to-Clean recovery if algae is heavy.

Openings aren’t one-price-fits-all. Cost depends on pool size, condition, and what needs doing (green water, cover type, debris load, equipment quirks, etc.).
